Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Diskfern (“Diskfern”, “we”, “us”). They apply when you download, install or use the Diskfern app for Mac, buy a license, use your Diskfern account, or use diskfern.com. By doing any of these, you accept these terms. If you don’t accept them, please don’t use Diskfern.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information, and our Refund Policy explains refunds. Both form part of these terms. If you accept these terms for an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to do so.

Who can use Diskfern

You must be at least 18 years old to buy a license or create an account. Diskfern runs on Macs with macOS 14 Sonoma or later.

Diskfern and its plans

Diskfern helps you understand what is using storage on your Mac and clear space safely. It comes in three plans:

  • Free lets you scan your Mac, your home folder or any folder you choose, explore the results in Treemap, List and Sunburst views, search with Diskfern Finder, see Smart Highlights, inspect items, preview them with Quick Look, gather items in the Collector and manage the Trash. There is no time limit.
  • Pro adds cleanup from the Collector, staging rebuildable items in one step, the app uninstaller and Disk Advisor, on one Mac.
  • Family includes everything in Pro on up to 5 Macs in one household.

Pro and Family are one-time purchases. They are not subscriptions, they don’t renew and your license doesn’t expire. Disk Advisor requires macOS 26 or later on a Mac that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence turned on; on other Macs, Diskfern’s other features work as described.

Your license

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive license to install and use Diskfern in line with these terms and your plan. With a paid plan, you may activate Diskfern on as many Macs as your plan allows, and you can move a license to another Mac at any time by deactivating one first, in Diskfern › Settings › License or in your account.

A Family license is for Macs used by members of one household. Your license is for you (or your household) and may not be sold, shared publicly or transferred to someone else unless we agree in writing.

You may not, and may not help anyone else to:

  • copy Diskfern except as needed to install and back it up;
  • bypass, disable or tamper with license checks or activation limits;
  • decompile, reverse engineer or disassemble Diskfern, except to the extent the law allows this despite this restriction;
  • rent, resell or publish license keys;
  • use Diskfern to access, analyse or delete data you are not authorised to, or in any way that breaks the law;
  • interfere with, overload or try to gain unauthorised access to our servers, website or account systems.

Your account and license key

Your Diskfern account lets you see your orders and license keys, manage the Macs a license is active on and request refunds. Keep your license key and access to your email account safe, because they control your license. Tell us promptly at support@diskfern.com if you think someone else is using your license. Once a Mac is activated, paid features keep working without an internet connection.

Updates and requirements

Diskfern downloaded from our website checks for updates about once a day and when you choose Check for Updates, and it never installs an update without your approval. We decide which updates to release and when, and we may change, improve or remove features. Some updates may need a newer version of macOS. You are responsible for meeting the system requirements shown on our website.

Buying Diskfern

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the merchant of record for all our orders. Paddle processes your payment, calculates and collects any sales tax or VAT, issues your receipt and handles payment questions. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle’s Buyer Terms.

Prices are shown at checkout, including any tax that applies where you live. We may change our prices for future purchases; a price change never affects a purchase you have already made. Your license is created once Paddle confirms your payment.

Refunds

You can ask for a refund as described in our Refund Policy. Nothing in these terms affects the rights you have under consumer law, including any right to cancel your purchase or to a remedy if Diskfern is faulty or not as described.

Using Diskfern safely

Diskfern can move items to the Trash and, if you choose, delete them permanently. Every cleanup needs your confirmation with Touch ID or your password, Diskfern starts with Move to Trash by default, and it refuses to remove protected system locations and your main folders. Even so, only you know which files you still need, so:

  • review what you remove before you confirm it;
  • keep a current backup, for example with Time Machine;
  • remember that items you delete permanently can’t be recovered by Diskfern.

Diskfern shows what macOS lets it read. Without Full Disk Access some folders can’t be read, files stored only in iCloud are not downloaded, and sizes are calculated from the information macOS provides, so they may differ from what other tools report.

Disk Advisor

Disk Advisor answers questions about your storage using Apple’s on-device language model. Its explanations are generated automatically and can be incomplete or wrong, so check them before you act on them. Disk Advisor can suggest items and add them to the Collector for your review, but it never removes anything by itself.

Intellectual property

Diskfern, including its software, design, text and graphics, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These terms give you a license to use Diskfern; they don’t transfer ownership of anything. You may not use the Diskfern name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you or your product.

Diskfern includes open-source software, such as the Sparkle update framework, which is provided under its own license terms. Mac and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. Diskfern is not affiliated with Apple or with the other products we compare it to.

Feedback

If you send us ideas or suggestions, you allow us to use them to improve Diskfern without any obligation to you.

Availability of our services

We work to keep our website, account site and license servers available, but they may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance. Activating a Mac, signing in and some account features need these services; scanning, exploring and using paid features on a Mac that is already activated do not.

Warranties

We provide Diskfern with reasonable care and skill. To the extent the law allows, Diskfern is otherwise provided “as is”, without further warranties or guarantees, for example that it will be free of errors or meet every need. If you are a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to digital content that is faulty or not as described, and nothing in these terms limits them.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • we are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for loss of profit, business or opportunity;
  • we are not liable for loss of data that would not have happened if you had kept a current backup and reviewed items before removing them;
  • our total liability to you for any claim related to Diskfern is limited to the amount you paid for your license.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using Diskfern at any time. We may suspend or end your license if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, for example by publishing your license key or using a key obtained fraudulently. Where reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put things right.

If your license ends, or after a full refund, Diskfern’s paid features stop working and the free features remain available. Sections of these terms that by their nature should continue, such as those on liability and the law that applies, continue to apply.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Laws of India. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country. If a problem arises, please contact us first; most issues can be resolved quickly by email.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example to reflect changes to Diskfern or the law. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If a change significantly affects you, we will tell you in advance. Changes don’t apply to purchases made before they take effect.
